District Technician
Slope-Hettinger Soil Conservation District

Position Location:  Mott, ND

Salary Range:  $12-15.75/hour depending on qualifications and experience plus benefits such as annual/sick leave, holidays, and health insurance.

Job Description:
District Duties:
Promote conservation through cooperator contact and follow-up
Manage/maintain District equipment and inventory at building
Manage District tree program:
Develop tree plans with producers using NRCS Field Office Technical Guide
Promote tree sales and tree maintenance
Coordinate spring tree planting, supervise tree crew activities, and participate in tree planting/weed barrier application
Verify receipt of tree order down-payments
Certify extent of complete tree plantings
Dovetail programs to producers for individual conservation practice implementation including both technical and financial assistance
Coordinate  educational activities as assigned
Order SCD supplies
Arrange Conservation Achievement Banquet
Prepare mailings and correspondence 
Organize tours, meetings, and workshops (work in conjunction with District Manager)
Develop and distribute bi-annual newsletters and Annual Report (work in conjunction with District Manager)
Conduct other duties, as assigned

NRCS Duties:
Maintain filing system
Manage incoming and outgoing mail (in conjunction with District Manager)
Prepare correspondence (in conjunction with District Manager)
Receive incoming calls and directing office traffic (in conjunction with District Manager)
Conduct other duties, as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
Must be physically able and willing to work effectively in strenuous field situations which include walking, hiking in all types of terrain and in all types of weather, lifting and machinery maintenance
Strong communication skills (oral and written), to work effectively with co-workers, board of Supervisors, other agencies and landowners
Must have computer knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office 
Must have a valid driverís license in ND
A two-year degree in an agricultural or natural resources field, or equivalent job experience preferred
